Living Like a Loved One; A Journey of Healing

I invite you to follow my day to day discoveries as I begin Living Like a Loved One, I lost my Uncle to cancer a year ago in late September. It's been a challenging healing process for the entire family, and I've decided that it doesn't have to be that difficult. During the next year, I will take the most special memories of my Uncle and bring them back to a reality in my day to day life. I hope this brings comfort and enlightenment to all who subscribe.

The Inspiration

Uncle Pete. A dear family member who passed away at home a year ago on September 28, 2009 at 12:05 am. More than an Uncle, more than a friend. This amazing man was a teacher to all whom crossed his path. Wether he knew it or not, he taught our family and friends many things, about life, love and happiness.

Yesterday I took some time aside from the craziness of the world to meditate. I don't do it as often as I should, but I had to have a moment with my God. It's the only way I can honestly hear with my heart. As I sit there in my stillness, I felt something I have never felt before. The urge to grab paper and pen IMMEDIATELY! I began to write down Uncle Pete's most memorable moments. Some were serious, some were sad, but most of them were just outright hilarious! Before I knew it I was sitting in a pile of tissues, my pen almost dried up, and enough written moments to spread throughout a years time. That's when I decided to start this daily Blog. It's both a great way to keep his memories alive and share his story with those who are closest to me.

Over the next year, I invite you to join me in this daily journey through the past. Each day I will choose one of Pete's memorable moments, bring that moment into a reality throughout my day and then journal about my experience, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Moments I can remember from my childhood when I first set eyes on him all the way up too his final moments of death were we last made contact.

I have a pretty hectic work schedule, but I PROMISE to blog everyday in memory of Uncle Pete. Some days I might write until I am tired and some days will be short and sweet. Please excuse typos ..... I'll do my best to make sure it's all readable! It may not always be perfect but ..... that's all apart of the process. Instant reflection shouldn't be perfect anyhow, right?

We all have a story, we could all write a book. Pete's was never written, but was definitely a Limited Edition. No story out there quite like his. I am honored as his niece and close friend to highlight the most memorable chapters of his life, make them a reality once again and share with you my discoveries. It's gonna be one heck of a year! Enjoy!
